Love & Water

“Water Is The Driving Force In Nature”- Leonardo da Vinci

Love is another driving force in human nature, like water it has the ability to be pure and powerful, and we need to help each other like we need Love & Water.  Water is the lifeblood of the world, and it is hard to appreciate how valuable it is unless you don’t have it.

Worldwide 800 million people do not have access to it and 2.5 billion have nowhere safe and clean to go to the toilet.  As a result, 2,000 children die every day from easily prevented diarrheal diseases with countless more unable to attend school. Millions of women are unable to work because they spend so much time collecting water and caring for sick children.- Water Aid

Clean water and sanitation are two issues that I am passionate about. They are such basic human needs, so simply attained by many around the world, and yet deadly to those who cannot access them.  Too many people are living without these very basic needs when the solutions are often times simple.  Water Aid was founded in 1981, to transform lives by helping the world’s poorest people gain access to safe water and sanitation. Together with local organizations, communities and individuals, WaterAid works to use affordable and locally appropriate solutions to provide safe water, effective sanitation and hygiene education to people in developing countries.

Children suffer the most, and in many countries, young girls are expected to collect water for their families, often traveling miles carrying heavy vessels, leaving little or no time for education.  Unsafe water and lack of sanitation are the cause of thousands of childhood deaths around the world each day.

Providing children with clean and accessible water and toilet facilities changes their lives. Their health improves and they have more time to go to school, spend time with their families and to simply play.   Low cost technologies that are simple to maintain by the communities themselves are used by Water Aid, and community members are involved every step of the way from planning and management to maintenance of the new facilities thus ensuring sustainability of projects for the long-term.

As we enter into the month that celebrates love, you can take this opportunity to give water
